Glass Type:
Cased satin Glass with white interior,
covered with color glass exterior.
The glass on these rose bowl is somewhat glosser
than normal American satin glass. The glass is quite thin, similar
to that found on T. Webb rose bowls.
Bowl:
Embossed pattern,
spherical shaped rose bowl
has 8 medium sized inward crimps on
rim, concaved bottom with semi ground pontil with convex interior of
bowl.
Note:
pontil area of bowl bottom has the same mold marks a Shell and
Seaweed rose bowls. The shell
pattern is taller an narrower than that found on Shell and Seaweed rose
bowls. Each shell pattern consist of 15 sub shell scallops.
Each scallops contains a multiple cross hatch marks from the bottom to
the top of the scallop, with a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 10.
Bowl shape or symmetry and crimps are very uniform indicating a quality
glasshouse.
Decoration:
The
white rose bowls are smaller in shape than the pink, blue and yellow.
They are also found decorated with enamel flowers in addition to the
embossed shell pattern. The pink, blue and yellow
have no
decorations beyond
the embossed pattern of shell. Shell pattern repeats five time
around circumference of bowl.
