Notes:  Dugan, Art Glass Rose Bowl from either Pompeian or Venetian lines.  Which is to be determined.   

Color of Bowl: Aqua blue  

Glass Type: Primary glass is transparent Aqua Blue.  Primary applied frit is opaque blue and opaque white.  Secondary frit is oxidized to golden iridescence color.

Bowl:  Basic shape of the rose bowl is spherical with three inward pinched concave areas on sides of bowl.  The bowl has 3 inward crimps and three vertical crimps on the rim. Slight roll or flair to lip of crimp area, heat smoothed.  Bowl also has a collar base (marie) flat bottom to slight concave where pontil rod was attached.  Bowl has a slight convex interior, in the collar base area.  Bowl exhibits internal optic, vertical bands under the golden oxidized frit.  Vertical bands are not external.     

Decoration: Secondary frit is oxidized to golden iridescence color applied in a vertical band pattern running bottom to top around the rose bowl.  Secondary frit was not completely warmed in giving and external texture, to frit bands.  

Dimension: 4.12” height by 4.25” wide.  Bowl opening 1.5”

 Estimated Date of Manufacture:  1904 to 1909  

 

 Condition:  Excellent 

Overall opinion:  Nice, example of Dugan Art Glass rose bowl.
